As of version 19.0, CrossOver no longer uses this library. This article is for reference only.
Description
Up to CrossOver 12 this library was needed in order for Windows applications to bring up a graphical user interface. But starting with CrossOver 13 it was only used for integrating Windows Netscape plugins with Linux browsers.
Resolution
CrossOver no longer uses this library (and cxdiag won't check for it) as of 19.0.
On CrossOver 17 and greater, the simplest solution to fix this issue is to run:
/path/to/cxoffice/bin/cxfix missinglibice
Or add --show-all to see how CrossOver would fix it on your platform and others.
Alternatively you may try one of the commands below.
- For 32-bit Windows applications
32-bit Arch Linux : pacman -Syu libice
64-bit Arch Linux : pacman -Syu lib32-libice
Debian : apt-get install libice6:i386
32-bit Fedora : yum install libICE
64-bit Fedora : yum install libICE.i686 libICE.x86_64
32-bit openSUSE >= 11.2 : zypper install xorg-x11-libICE
64-bit openSUSE >= 11.2 : zypper install xorg-x11-libICE-32bit
32-bit openSUSE >= 12.1 : zypper install libICE6
64-bit openSUSE >= 12.1 : zypper install libICE6-32bit
Notes:
- cxfix --show-all may have more up-to-date fixes.
- The commands usually also apply to newer versions of the distributions above as well as derived distributions. So for instance a fix for Debian 7 may still be valid for the latest Debian Testing and is typically also applicable to Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Deepin and Pop! OS. Similarly a fix for Fedora likely also works on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, etc.
